Biographical Sketch Name Index

The Biographical Name Index is an index to twenty-eight publications containing 26,720 articles in which biographical information about Clevelanders has been published between 1886 and 1998. This index will be of interest to persons researching Cleveland and northeastern Ohio biography, history, family history and genealogy. You will find the title of the publication and the page on which the article is found in the index by searching personal names in the form of lastname, firstname. (Some entries will include middle names or initials.) The most effective way to find an individual is to search by the last name; if too many results come back, add a first name (or part of a first name) in the second search field.  The results will indicate the publication and page on which the article appeared, the Call Number for the publication, which is required to retrieve the item from the Archives Library collection, and if there is an illustration associated with the reference.
