The Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) began in 1971 with a small group of baseball enthusiasts dedicated to researching all facets of the game. Currently SABR, based in Cleveland, has thousands of members throughout the and world wide. Members involve themselves in such studies as ballpark research, statistics, minor league, biographies, and the Negro Leagues. SABR publishes two outstanding journals each year, The National Pastime and The Baseball Research Journal. Each publication features the best in research from the SABR members.
The Sports Archives maintains the SABR library featuring thousands of books and periodicals which are available for research. Books include biographies, team histories, media guides, statistics and baseball anthologies. Periodicals include Baseball Magazine, Baseball Digest and Baseball America. Many of the titles are available via the on-line catalog.
