 Cleveland in World War II

WRHS, in collaboration with ideastream, WVIZ-TV, and WCPN radio, will produce an exhibit called “ Cleveland in World War II.” Opening November 11, 2007, the exhibit will coincide with the broadcast of a new major documentary “The War” by Ken Burns on in World War II as part of the PBS fall season. The PBS documentary takes a new look at the war from the perspective of four communities in the United States, the veterans who went to war from those towns and the citizens who worked on the home front. The Cleveland exhibit will capture the memories of Clevelanders who fought in the “good war” both abroad and at home. The exhibit will look at those who left and came back and those who never to returned, but also at how the war brought many people to Northeast Ohio along unexpected and unusual paths. Drawing on the Society’s own collections of World War II artifacts and archives the exhibit will add new materials and oral histories collected specially for the exhibit from people around the Western Reserve . “ Cleveland in World War II” will run through Labor Day 2008.

If you have memories, memorabilia, photographs, and letters from WWII that you would like to share as part of this exhibit, please contact Ed Pershey , Director of Museum Service, at WRHS. 216 721-5722 x228 or pershey@wrhs.org
