DUTIES: The Director of Hale Farm & Village is a full-time position responsible to the President and CEO of the Western Reserve Historical Society (WRHS) for the day-to-day operations of Hale Farm & Village, a 19th century outdoor museum near Akron, Ohio with a $1M budget, a full-time staff of 10 and a seasonal staff of about 20 historic interpreters.
QUALIFICATIONS: Director candidates must have a minimum of three years of management and fundraising experience with a museum or an organization similar in size and mission to Hale Farm, with strong oral and written communication skills. A graduate degree in American history or a related field is required.
Salary range low to mid $50,000 depending upon experience.

Part-time Museum Protection Services Officer
This position is classified as operational and is non-exempt with regard to overtime compensation.
Reports to the Protection Services Duty Officer for daily assignment. No direct supervision of others within the department.
COORDINATION: Through the Chief of Protection Services and the Duty Officer, works with the Society’s departments and auxiliaries on a daily basis, as well as on behalf of the Society’s special events and programs.
DUTIES: Individual and group visitor control and assistance, Protect the collection, premises, employees and visitors against fire, theft, vandalism and other dangers that might result in injury, damage or loss. Perform duties in a safe manner as outlined in the employee safety manual, Conduct regular inspections of the premises as assigned, Open and close the facility. Use of security alarm system & keys. To remain alert while on duty and to be aware of the activities within the designated post. The officer may be assigned other tasks necessary to assure the operational function of the WRHS. Maintain confidentiality within the department.
QUALIFICATIONS: Pleasant manner, observant, tactful, tolerant, honest, alert, neat and in good health. Able to communicate clearly and concisely to visitors and staff. Ability to write reports in a clear and accurate manner. Conscientious in following regulations and instruction from higher authority. The candidate must not be convicted of any felony or misdemeanor involving any crime of dishonesty, breach of trust, theft, violence or substance abuse.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must be physically able to perform the duties needed. Ability to climb stairs, operate large overhead doors on freight elevators, able to lift objects up to 40 lbs, able to stand for lengthy periods. Provide assistance to handicap visitors around the building. Ability to administer first-aid to visitors and staff. The WRHS is a Drug-Free Workplace. Museum Store/Admissions Associate
Providing competent and adequate coverage for the Museum store and Admissions Desk, including opening and closing responsibilities.
This is a Part-time position, non-exempt from overtime compensation.
DUTIES: Opening and closing store/admissions as trained. Keeping Museum Store Manager apprised of merchandise stock levels through spot inventory checks, assisting customers with merchandise selections and/or information on exhibits and events and assisting with inventories.
QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience working with the public, basic math skills, ability to learn and adjust to change, good organizational skills, reliable, accurate and consistent in all job duties.

Box Office, Ticket Sales
Responsible to the Box Office Manager for overseeing the operations of the box office including front line sales and customer service. Coordinates with the Box Office Manager and Director of Visitor Service to carry out daily admissions operations.
The position is classified as a part-time temporary position and is nonexempt from overtime.
DUTIES:Assist the customer in choosing the appropriate ticket for their visit to the WRHS. Provide consistent guest service to all guests. Thoroughly knowledgeable in the policies and procedures to the Western Reserve Historical Society. Provide directions to various locations throughout the facility. Responsible for balancing cash and ticket stock at the end of the shift. Responsible for monetary shortages at the end of the shift. Answer incoming calls regarding Exhibition. Respond to visitor inquiries. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of all areas of the museum. Knowledge of the Ticketmaster ticketing system. Understanding of policies and procedures. Previous cashier or cash handling experience. Responsibility: Responsible to the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds
CLASSIFICATION: This position is classified as a full-time temporary position and is non-exempt from overtime compensation.
Coordination: Through the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, works with the Society’s departments and auxiliaries on a daily basis, as well as on behalf of the Society’s special events and programs.
DUTIES: Cleaning of bathrooms, general housekeeping, dusting, vacuuming, trash removal, window and glass cleaning, outside work including trash removal and general weeding.
QUALIFICATION: Pleasant by nature, willingness to work alone, honest, alert, neat, safety conscious, willing to follow directions, ability to be on feet most of the work day, able to lift 25 pounds minimum.

East Boulevard Sales Manager
Responsible to the Director of Sales & Marketing of the Western Reserve Historical Society (WRHS) for overseeing the sales and operations functions of the East Blvd Gift Shop including admissions, retail, food service, group sales, and facility rentals. In addition, the East Blvd Sales Manager will be responsible front line sales and customer service, sales growth, merchandise presentation, financial control and profitability. This position requires working a minimum of one weekend day.
This position is classified as full-time, professional, and the incumbent is exempt from overtime compensation.
SUPERVISION: East Blvd store and admissions personnel and volunteers assigned sales and admission duties.
COORDINATION: Coordinates with the WRHS Director of Sales & Marketing to develop inventory strategies; with major departments of the Society for product suggestions; and for day-to-day functions and special events. Coordinates with the WRHS Facility Event Planner to administrate facility rentals, and with the VP Museums & VP Education to sell group programs. Contributes to and participates in collaborative efforts between store/admissions and other WRHS departments and sites. Offers ideas and suggestions for expanding these efforts.

Hale Farm Sales Associate
